Investment Committee Chairperson
Ms Makhathini, a qualified Chartered Accountant, has a long history of occupying a wide range of positions in both the private and public sectors.
Her business skills and experience in support of entrepreneurial and business development augers well for the role she plays as Chairperson of Dube TradePort Corporation’s Investment Committee, a critical Sub-Committee of the Board.
Mr Siyabonga Nene
Board Member
Mr Nene has enjoyed a long and successful role in public service, from grass-roots to national levels.
He has also been closely involved in a plethora of highly successful youth empowerment programmes. As a board member of Dube TradePort Corporation, the wide-ranging experience and expertise he brings with him adds considerable value to the organisation.
Mr Velenkosini Mtshali
Audit and Risk Committee Member
Mr Mtshali is a Chartered Accountant, Registered Auditor and the Director of a private accounting firm.
His professional status and business acumen serves him well as a highly valued member of Dube TradePort Corporation’s Audit and Risk Committee, a vitally important Sub-Committee of the Board.
Dr Bridgette Gasa-Toboti
Board Chairperson
Dr Gasa-Toboti has 26 years experience as a built environment specialist and is an expert in both local and international construction management
She has played an integral role in numerous infrastructure projects and, as the Managing Director of a number of private enterprises, brings exceptional business acumen to Dube TradePort Corporation’s Board.
Mr Zahid Fakey
Audit and Risk Committee member
Mr Fakey, a Chartered Accountant and Registered Auditor, is the director of a number of private institutions, inclusive of Al Baraka Bank.
His extensive experience and financial expertise enables him to play a major role in the deliberations of Dube TradePort Corporation’s Audit and Risk Committee, a Sub-Committee of the Board.

Owen Mungwe
Executive: Development, Planning and Infrastructure, Dube TradePort Corporation.
Owen Mungwe is the Development, Planning and Infrastructure, Executive within Dube TradePort Corporation. He drives the planning and development of new infrastructure projects, as well as ensuring the environmental compliance of
Dube TradePort Special Economic Zone’s developments.
Owen has also been instrumental in leading the development of the Durban Aerotropolis Master Plan. Which set to create a smart city around Durban’s King Shaka International Airport, that will cover an area of 32 000ha’s and create an estimated 750 000 job opportunities over the next
50-years.
Hamish Erskine
Chief Executive Officer
Hamish Erskine is the Chief Executive Officer of Dube TradePort Corporation, the driver of the Dube TradePort Special Economic Zone, which is developing a world-class manufacturing and air logistics platform around King Shaka International Airport that forms the heart of the emerging Durban Aerotropolis, of which Dube TradePort is the implementing agent.
Mr Erskine also serves as the co-Chair of the KwaZulu-Natal Route Development Committee (Durban Direct), which is responsible for attracting new airlines to fly directly into Durban, enabling greater global connectivity for both passengers and airfreight.
Mlibo Bantwini
Dube TradePort Special Economic Zone, Executive Dube AgriZone and Dube Cargo Terminal
Mlibo Bantwini is the Dube AgriZone and Dube Cargo Terminal Executive within Dube TradePort Special Economic Zone.
The work of the Dube AgriZone, he works to stimulate the growth of KwaZulu-Natal’s high-value perishables sector, while through the Dube Cargo Terminal he has a valuable role in facilitating a key connection into global supply chains for perishables and other time-sensitive high-value goods.
Kaya Ngqaka
Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Ngqaka is Chief Operations Officer, at Dube TradePort Corporation operator of the Dube TradePort Special Economic Zone. He is responsible for the implementation of the Special Economic Zone, investment attraction, One Stop Shop, commercial property development, and property operations.
Mr. Ngqaka has a Master in Economics from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (PMB).
He began his career teaching economics at the Walter Sisulu and Pretoria Universities respectively, thereafter spent the bulk of his career in government, first with National Treasury and the Department of Transport followed by Department of Trade and Industry (the DTI), where he led the development of South Africa’s policy and legislative framework on the Special Economic Zones. During his tenure at the DTI, he was also involved in the formulation of the Special Economic Zone Fund, the development of the One Stop Shop Model and the management of incentive programmes that have attracted over R 70 billion investments into South Africa.
