Dube TradePort Corporation’s recent case in the Durban High Court demonstrates that the organisation continues to practice good governance and highlights its commitment to ensuring that it maintains robust procedures that are transparent and uphold the rule of law.

The much-anticipated inaugural non-stop flight between London and Durban, by British Airways, the flight landed early this morning at King Shaka International Airport, the flight ushers in a new direct air service, which will be operated three times a week with British Airways latest fleet of aircraft, the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.

During a high-powered BRICS Business Council delegation visit to Dube TradePort earlier this week investors were told that qualifying companies located within Dube TradePort Special Economic Zone are now eligible to access Special Economic Zone incentives after Finance Minister Mr. Nhlanhla Nene published his approval of 12R and 12S in the Government Gazette on the 6th of July 2018.

KwaZulu-Natal’s investment drive receives a shot in the arm, as Mahindra launches a new semi-knockdown assembly plant within Dube TradePort Special Economic Zone. The facility will produce Mahindra’s Pik-Up range of Single and Double-Cab bakkies; when the plant is operating at full capacity the facility will be able to produce 4000 vehicles a year.

British Airways will begin flying three times weekly schedule direct from London Heathrow’s Terminal 5 to Durban’s, King Shaka International Airport, starting on 29th of October 2018.

Durban’s international cargo volumes in quarter 3 increased by 13.7% when compared to the same period last year; this is on the back of the highest ever recorded cargo throughput during the months of October and November 2017.

KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Mr Sihle Zikalala, today officially opened the new multi-purpose iDube Cold Storage facility, located within Dube TradePort Special Economic Zone.

On the 30th of March 2017 Dube Cargo Terminal witnessed its second landing of an Antonov An-124 cargo aircraft, as part of the delivery of 80 tonnes of highly specialised spools, which forms part of the main furnace at the local oil refinery. The components ranged from 4 to 16 meters in length, 1 to 3 meters in width and 2 to 4 meters in height.

Today, the Province of KwaZulu-Natal welcomed the inaugural flight of Air Seychelles to Durban’s King Shaka International Airport. Air Seychelles will be flying a twice-weekly non-stop service on Thursdays and Saturdays, connecting Durban and the Seychelles’ capital Mahé, using an Airbus A320 Aircraft with a 16-seat business class and 120-seat economy configuration, which will achieve an average flight time of 5 hours, 20 minutes.

Yangtze Optics Africa Cable’s (YOAC) new R 150 million optical fibre cable manufacturing and distribution facility located within Dube TradePort Special Economic Zone is operational after just six months of construction, and just one year after its first meeting with Dube TradePort.

Air Seychelles, the national airline of the Republic of Seychelles, held a media conference at King Shaka International Airport on 01 December 2016 to announce its new direct route to Durban, set to commence on 30 March 2017. The new Durban route will be operated twice-per-week on an Airbus A320 aircraft and will be the airline’s second route in South Africa.

On Sunday the 30th of October 2016, Durban’s King Shaka International Airport welcomed the inaugural flight of Air Namibia. The airline is now flying a four times weekly Windhoek – Gaborone – Durban schedule, with flights on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

Cipla BioTec and Dube TradePort will be building Africa’s first fully integrated biopharmaceutical plant to make biopharmaceuticals within Dube TradePort Special Economic Zone in KwaZulu-Natal. The parties previously on the 8th July 2016 announced the overall investment level for manufacturing and development costs and it is targeted to be approximately R 1,3 billion.

This positive response by the KwaZulu-Natal traveler market is credit to the existing and new international carriers serving Durban.

KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Mr Sihle Zikalala, today announced the commencement of construction of a condom manufacturing facility at Dube TradePort. In a development that comes against the backdrop of the 21st World Aids Conference taking place in Durban, the new state-of-the-art facility by HBM-SA Health Protection Services is a partnership between US-based HBM Group and SA Health.

Today, Yangtze Optics Africa Cable (YOAC), an optical fibre and accessory manufacturer, officially launched its new manufacturing facility within Dube TradePort. The new purpose-built fibre optic manufacturing facility is valued at R100 million, with a further R150 million investment expected in the machinery and other equipment.

Qatar Airways’ inaugural flight QR1367, which departed from Doha’s Hamad International Airport, at 07:45 on 17 December, completed a fly-by of Durban’s beach front before landing at King Shaka International Airport. The dramatic beach fly-by caught the attention of holidaymakers and the local community, and images quickly spread on social media channels across South Africa and beyond.

Multiple award-winning airline Qatar Airways brought Durban and Doha a step closer today with the introduction of a four-times-weekly flight between the two cities. The newly launched Durban-Doha route is an expansion of the airline’s operations and decade-long investment in South Africa.

Ethiopian Airlines, the largest and most profitable airline in Africa, is pleased to announce that it has started new services to Durban, the 3rd destination in South Africa after Johannesburg and Cape Town on December 16.

Due to the increased demand for international travellers to travel to Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, Turkish Airlines launched its third South African route between Durban and Istanbul on the 5th of November this year.

Durban is ready for liftoff with another international airline secured. Ethiopian Airlines is set to start direct flights from Durban to Addis Ababa from the 16th of December 2015. Ethiopian Airlines is now the third international carrier to commit to putting in a direct flight into Durban’s’ King Shaka International Airport this year.

Dube TradePort Corporation has successfully graduated its first class of Small Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) that benefited from the organisation’s SMME Development Programme, which aims at strengthening entrepreneurial business management skills.

Earlier this week at the World Routes Development Summit, Qatar Airways and Turkish Airlines both announced new route connections to Durban. Another exciting development occurred during the closing day of this spectacular function, wherein Proflight Zambia launched its inaugural direct flight from Lusaka to Durban in South Africa – opening up the channels to a more frequent, convenient route for travellers from Zambia to enjoy what the City of Durban has on offer.

Amidst all the excitement of the World Routes summit, which has experienced an influx of over 2500 delegates from more than 110 countries, Turkish Airlines announced today that they would be establishing a new international route between Durban and Istanbul, launching before 15 November 2015.
